Ottawa Sports Awards 2015
We wish to extend our congratulations to Cleo Page and Christina Campbell for winning the award ! The Ottawa Sports Awards committee has chosen Cleo Page as the city’s athlete-of-the-year in rhythmic gymnastics and Christina Campbell as the city’s athlete-of-the-year in Special Olympics Rhythmic gymnastics. As an individual sport winner, Cleo and Christina were both recognized and called up on stage at the 63th Annual Ottawa Sports Awards Dinner on Wed Jan 27 at Algonquin College. The mayor, sponsors, various community sports organizations, volunteers, and athletes were in the audience of about 500.

GYMNASTICS (RHYTHMIC) – CLEO PAGE:
Cleo is a member of the Ottawa Rhythmic Gymnastics Club. She won the 2015 Provincial Championships in the Level 6-B Division and recently has been selected a member of the national group team by Gymnastics Canada. Cleo will be moving to Toronto to advance her skills with the dream of competing for Canada in the 2020 Olympics.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS – CHRISTINA JUDD-CAMPBELL:
Christina, now 28 years old, has been a member of the Ottawa Rhythmic Gymnastics Club for 15 years. In 2015, she was a member of the Canadian Special Olympics squad that competed in the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles. While competing in the L4 class, the highest level of competition available, Christina won 4 gold medals, including the overall title. A veteran athlete in her sport, Christina has been to two other World Championships and is now thinking of retiring from competing and giving back to her sport by becoming a coach.

Rythmik QC Invitational Jan 30-31, 2016, Montreal
We sent 23 gymnasts (National, Provincial & Special Olympics) to the competition and won a total of 28 gold, 19 silver, and 10 bronze. Congratulations !

Kanata Cup March 12-13, 2016
We sent 4 teams (national, provincial, inter-club and Special Olympics) to the competition and won various medals listed below. We also won Kanata Cup for Provincials Team Award and Kanata Cup for Inter-Club Team Award. Congratulations !

National: 1 gold,1 silver, 2 bronze
Provincial: 24 gold, 13 silver, 9 bronze
Inter-Club: 7 gold, 6 silver, 5 bronze
Special Olympics: 2 overall gold 1 overall bronze

2016 First RG Provincial Qualifier April 1-3, 2016 Kanata
We sent 22 gymnasts to the competition and won 5 gold, 5 silver, 7 bronze and 32 ribbons ( 4th-8th ). There were 16 clubs (100+ gymnasts) attended the competition. Congratulations!

RG Eastern Regional Championships April 15-17, 2016
Eastern Regional Championships held at the Pan Am Centre in Markham, Ontario. We sent 10 gymnasts to the competition and won 2 gold, 11 silver, 3 bronze and 9 ribbons ( 4th-8th ).There were 21 clubs from three provinces (New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario) and over 200 gymnasts competing at this event. Congratulations!

2016 RG 2nd Provincial Qualifier, April 6-8, Toronto
We sent a team to the competition and won 9 gold (include the 2 overall gold won by Nadezhda L2A & Raya L3B), 7 Silver, 7 Bronze, and 24 ribbons (4th-8th). There were 17 clubs (200+ gymnasts) attended the competition. Congratulations !

2016 RG Provincial Championships / RhythmFest, Etobicoke, June 10-12, 2016
Congratulations to all gymnasts who had participated in the 2016 Championship/RhythmFest. We sent a team to the competition and won 8 gold, 3 silver,11 bronze and 29 ribbons (4th-8th). Congratulations to the following gymnasts for winning the 2016 Provincial Champion’s title! There were 17 clubs (270+ gymnasts) attended the competition.

SO Ottawa Rhythmic Spirals
The SO Ottawa Rhythmic Spirals have had a very successful year. Learning new routines, practicing for competitions and making sure to have fun has kept us busy. The girls competed in three competitions; the Kanata Cup, Defi Sportif, and the Durham Invitational. They came home with lots of medals and great memories. In May, five gymnasts qualified to attend the 2016 Provincial Games in Guelph where their hard work and determination paid off with a total medal count of 14 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze. Congratulations to all the Spirals for a fantastic year of gymnastics.
